DNA Autosport Join Porsche Carrera Cup Campaign for 2022

The Team at DNA have joined Tekworkx Motorsport in their Porsche Carrera Cup and Michelin Sprint Cup Seasons for 2022.

The brand new 992 GT3 Cup cars will be driven by Bathurst 1000 Winner Luke Youlden and Max Vidau, with the season kicking off at the Formula1 Grand Prix in Melbourne this April.

Monday the 24th of January saw Porsche Motorsport handover 31 new generation GT3 Cup cars at Sydney Motorsport Park, 2 of which will be taken on by Tekworkx Motorsport.

DNA Autosport Director, Andre Nader and Engineering Manager, Andrew Schaap, have been enlisted by Tekworkx Motorsport to take on the various engineering and mechanical duties for the Type 992's.

Monday and Tuesday's handover test saw both drivers post promising times with Youlden crossing the line with a personal best of 1:28.8491 and 20 year old Vidau not far behind at 1:29.4608.

"The cars were quite good from the outset" says Youlden.
"We tweaked the setups throughout the day and continued to find pace. I'm really happy with the first test. I’ve been racing for over 20 years and I’m impressed with Andre's attention to detail and the amount of work he has put in behind the scenes."

On the other side of the garage, Vidau was also pleased with the start of the season.
"The first test went well, the cars were fast straight away and from there we fine tuned them on new and old rubber over the two days. Andre kept the car in the window on the green and used tyres, so I'm excited for what is to come."

Meanwhile behind the scenes, Team Boss Robert Woods had this to say:

This year Tekworkx Motorsport have engaged the services of DNA owner and engineer Andre Nader, to engineer our Porsche programs in Carrera Cup and Sprint challenge, making Andre our sole engineer for both Porsche programs.

The decisions to engage DNA AutoSport came from discussions between Carrera Cup driver, team share holder Luke Youlden and myself, from our point of view we wanted a fresh face for our assault on the 2022 season of Carrera Cup as we are running two very well credentialed pro drivers.

First point of call was the the new 992 Porsche Carrera Cup handover test at SMSP over two days. Being a new car an immense amount of work was required, engineering wise, to hit the ground running and for Luke and Max to gel with Andre.
Andre didn’t disappoint in fact he exceeded what we expected, dialing the new cars in straight away, to the point that Luke set the third fastest time of the two day test.
We have another three test days planned before Tekworkx hit the Melbourne Grand Prix for Round 1 and we are sure that we have made the right decision engaging DNA, we are very excited for the upcoming season."

After a successful first test, the team at DNA are really looking forward to the maiden season for the Type 992:
"While DNA Autosport will always be committed to its street car clientele, it's important that we continue to our strong presence in competitive motorsport. The Porsche Carrera Cup is one of the country's pinnacle categories, so to be working with a team like Tekworkx and drivers like Luke and Max is fantastic. No doubt our experience this season will allow us to continue to offer our clients the top-tier service they are used to." says Nader.
